Indian High Commissioner Pays Familiarization Visit to St. Andrew Catholic Hospital, Kordiabe
On Monday, April 14, 2025, St. Andrew Catholic Hospital, Kordiabe, was privileged to host His Excellency Manish Gupta, the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, along with his family, on a memorable familiarization visit to the facility. The visit marked a significant moment in the hospital’s history, symbolizing not only a gesture of goodwill but also the growing bond between the Indian diplomatic mission and local institutions committed to community development and healthcare excellence. The High Commissioner and his family were warmly received by the hospital’s leadership team, including the Hospital Administrator, department heads, and staff. A short welcome ceremony was held at the hospital’s forecourt, where the Administrator expressed appreciation for the Commissioner’s interest in the hospital’s work and extended a heartfelt welcome on behalf of the St. Andrew Catholic Hospital family.
Tour of the Facility
Following the welcome, the delegation was taken on a guided tour of the hospital’s key departments. The tour began at the General Outpatient Department (OPD), where the Commissioner observed the patient flow system and interacted with nurses and clinicians. He was then shown the Maternity Unit, where staff highlighted significant achievements, including the hospital’s record of zero maternal mortality over the past two years, the use of ultramodern delivery beds, radiant warmers, phototherapy machines, and a private delivery suite—all contributing to safe and dignified maternal care. The tour also included stops at the Laboratory, Pharmacy, and the newly established Physiotherapy Unit, where the High Commissioner expressed keen interest in the equipment and services available. Throughout the tour, he and his family were visibly impressed by the dedication and professionalism of the staff, the cleanliness of the environment, and the innovative measures the hospital has adopted despite its rural setting.
Hope for Future Collaboration
In his address, H.E. Manish Gupta commended the hospital’s leadership and staff for their tireless efforts and dedication to delivering quality healthcare to the underserved. He acknowledged the importance of institutions like St. Andrew Catholic Hospital in bridging the healthcare access gap and expressed interest in exploring areas of possible collaboration in the future—particularly in capacity building, staff development, and medical exchange programs.
A Memorable Day for the Hospital
The entire hospital community was energized and uplifted by the visit, which came as a strong message of encouragement and solidarity. It was a day that will be remembered not only for its diplomatic significance but also for the inspiration it brought to the hardworking staff and the hope it rekindled for future opportunities. St. Andrew Catholic Hospital extends its deepest appreciation to H.E. Manish Gupta and his family for their visit, time, and goodwill.
