Breast and Prostate Cancer Awareness at Palm University College
St. Andrew Catholic Hospital, Kordiabe, continues to strengthen its commitment to community health promotion, preventive healthcare and public health education through a cancer awareness outreach programme held at Palm University College on Wednesday, 28th October 2026.
The outreach, led by the Acting Hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. (Med.) Johathan Duvor, focused on raising awareness about breast cancer and prostate cancer, two significant health conditions that require continuous public education, increased awareness and timely medical attention.
The initiative forms part of the Hospital’s broader commitment to extending healthcare services and education beyond its facility, reaching out to communities and institutions to promote healthier lifestyles and encourage people to take responsibility for their health.
Promoting Awareness and Early Detection
During the engagement, participants were educated on the importance of understanding breast and prostate cancer, including the need to be informed about potential risk factors, possible warning signs and the importance of seeking professional medical advice when concerns arise.
The team emphasized the value of early detection and appropriate screening practices in the management of cancer. Participants were encouraged not to ignore unusual changes in their health and to seek medical attention promptly rather than delay consultation.
The outreach also highlighted the importance of breaking the silence and misconceptions surrounding cancer. Open conversations, access to reliable health information and willingness to seek medical advice are essential steps towards improving public understanding and encouraging timely healthcare-seeking behaviour.
By taking this message to Palm University College, the Hospital sought to empower participants with relevant health information that they can apply in their personal lives and share with their families and wider communities.
Taking Healthcare Education Beyond the Hospital
As part of its mission to promote quality and compassionate healthcare, St. Andrew Catholic Hospital recognizes that improving community health requires more than providing treatment within the hospital setting. It also involves reaching people where they live, work and learn, and equipping them with the knowledge to make informed health decisions.
The Palm University College outreach demonstrates this commitment to preventive healthcare and community engagement. Through such initiatives, the Hospital continues to encourage health awareness, promote early health-seeking behaviour and contribute to the development of healthier communities.
St. Andrew Catholic Hospital expresses its sincere appreciation to the Management, staff and community of Palm University College for the warm reception and opportunity to undertake this important health education programme.
St. Andrew Catholic Hospital remains committed to supporting community-based health education and preventive healthcare initiatives that make a positive difference in people's lives.
