Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is recognized worldwide as Breast Cancer Awareness Month — a time dedicated to raising awareness, promoting education, and encouraging early detection of breast cancer. At St. Andrew Catholic Hospital, Kordiabe, we are committed to joining this global campaign to help protect the health and wellbeing of women in our community and beyond.

This year, our theme is: “Support the Fight Against Breast Cancer – Early Detection Saves Lives”. Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women, but the good news is that when detected early, it can be treated successfully. Many women delay screening due to fear, stigma, or lack of awareness, but regular checks and timely medical attention can make a life-saving difference.

  • 📅 Date: October 1st – 31st, 2025
  • 🕗 Time: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. daily
  • 📍 Venue: Maternity Unit, St. Andrew Catholic Hospital, Kordiabe
  • 🪪 Note: Kindly bring along a valid NHIS card.

    • Activities for the Month
  • Education on Breast Cancer – Learn about the risk factors, symptoms, prevention, and treatment options for breast cancer.
  • Free Breast Examinations – Our trained health professionals will carry out clinical breast examinations for women of all ages.
  • Screening & Specialist Consultations – For anyone found with abnormalities or suspicious lumps, immediate referral and consultation with our specialist will be provided for further evaluation.
  • Awareness Campaigns Beyond the hospital, our outreach teams will be sensitizing the community about breast cancer, reducing stigma, and encouraging regular check-ups.
